Are you from a Muslim majority country? Is this true for your culture as well? Our bookshelves were full growing up, but they were all religious books. How was it in your family? /2

The good thing is-this is easily reversible. Read to your kids every night. Make it a special/fun time and theyll grow to love reading. Fill their bookshelves. Take them to the library weekly (if there are public libraries where you live)

In Islam every one is brain blinded by one book. Their all thoughts start from that book and end at that book which is there since 700 AD. It has stopped their own thoughts, with this they can not get enlightenment and wisdom.

You're referring here ('vary') to the interpretation I presume. There is only 1 book. They learn it by rote. They don't read any other literature, fact or fiction, was the intent of the post.

So true ...Even though they claim that Quran starts with the word "Read" (Iqra) which is a paradox in Quran though. How? Because there was nothing "Written" in order for him (Muhamad) to read...Btw Iqra is a command verb in Arabic......

you are not quite right: they are encouraged to learn the book by heart (funny for non-arabic speaking children)
