Excellent question.
@Mattel, I want to see Mormon Barbie (white skin, of course) and an Amish Barbie in her empowering bonnet, and little shaved head Hasidic Jew Barbie.
Why only a Muslim Barbie? This is discrimination against little girls from other religions.https://twitter.com/missylee1967/status/930482538270699520 …

Yes I get that, but manufacturers must think they are going to make a profit. Having said that, maybe Muslim Barbie is the same doll, except with different attire? If so, this wouldn't cost too much to make after all. Yes virtue signalling.

Perhaps --and I stress, perhaps-- Mattel is thinking this will turn a profit simply because of the virtue signal factor. All kinds of minority fetishists might purchase Hijarbie to "smash western Patriarchy" and promote multiculturalism.

It’s marketing of a different kind.. intended to demonstrate their ‘inclusive’ credentials. Unfortunately all part of a trend that is normalising anti misogynist headwear. Muslim Brotherhood must be so happy, even if they otherwise disapprove Barbie.
