I'm sure the toy manufacturers think only of profit. The Muslim population in Western countries is big and growing fast, so it's a highly lucrative market. Hasidic Jews and Amish are minute in number, so there's no money to be made from such communities.
Ok, so why not make a mainstream Christian or Jewish Barbie? There are more Christians and Jews in US than there are Muslims. If it were about profit—those religions would make a lot more sense. This isn’t about profit. This is about virtue signaling.
Also, FYI, less than half of one percent of Americans wear hijab...so if it’s only about profit, that’s some pretty shitty marketing.
Yes I get that, but manufacturers must think they are going to make a profit. Having said that, maybe Muslim Barbie is the same doll, except with different attire? If so, this wouldn't cost too much to make after all. Yes virtue signalling.
I remember seeing an article about faceless dolls being sold to fundamentalist burqa-wearing sects! The dolls looked sinister. I feel sorry for those poor children who will be given such horrors to play with.
