My Uber driver and I hated on the term POC. He's Cuban/Mexican-his wife is white. He said the term pits him and their daughter vs his wife.

He said 'everyone thinks I'm Black'. And this label is even worse cuz it lumps in everyone w a tan as one group. And what of mixed ppl?
It's ironic that it was coined by ppl supposedly concerned about racism, but it's actually about as racist as a term can get.

I am also mixed race and have always found the term to be stupid and pointless.

The term POC is descriptive, like blonde or brunette. It's not racist unless used in a derogatory way. Just like "blonde" can be insulting.
