No. This is typical. Most Muslims have no idea what they're saying when they recite Quran. Only the Arabs do (and they're a minority).

Because Arabic is not like English. English is an ever-evolving mix of diff langs. Classical Arabic is used in academia -just not colloquial

Possibly. Classical Arabic is what's used in all books. So ppl read/write it all the time. No one writes in colloquial-it's spoken only.
