After reading the vice article I'm more convinced that those who no longer believe in Quran/Sunna should call themselves "Ex-Muslims". 1/3

Non-Muslims are not stupid. We understand that "Ex-Muslim" means the person still tends to follow previous cultural practices. 2/3

The cultural practices don't pose a threat to us but Muslims' belief in Quran/Sunna does. By saying "ex-Muslim" that concern is relieved 3/3

You hit upon an interesting question. At what point have you cherry picked so little of a religion, it's time to stop calling yourself X?

It doesn't work that way in Islam. If a person avoids pork and alcohol, has 3 wives, but doesn't believe in Quran/Sunna and prefers to 1/2

..call himself Ex-Muslim, then he is definitely an Ex. It is *loyalty* to Islam that matters more than how much one cherry-picks Islam 2/2

A person could be doing everything that Islam calls haram, but still be Muslim if s/he *believes* in Quran/Sunna or if s/he identifies as 1.

But why would they do everything haram and then believe in Koran?

This is literally the premise of Ali's book :)
