The two ARE mutually exclusive. Sharia supports FGM and treats females as 2nd- class citizens. Take off the blindfold and the hijab.

FGM isn't a Muslim practice, it's an African thing. Not mentioned in Qur'an. Maybe you need to do more research, eh?

Yes it existed before islam and islam incorporated it. All schools of islamic law are pro fgm.

No they're not - there's even fatwas against FGM. Stop regurgitating nonsense on a topic you know nothing about & do some research.

There are several interpretations of islamic law. None of them are against fgm. Peolple can dish out fatwas for anything.

Your first sentence is correct, the other two are bullshit. Maybe bow out gracefully if you know nothing about the subject in hand?

Yr question assumes that FGM is mentioned in primary Islamic texts, which it isn't. There is a mention in a Hadith:https://www.quora.com/Why-does-Islam-allow-Female-Genital-Mutilation-FGM-Female-Circumcision/answer/Sammy-Thatcher-1 …

Male circumcision is also only mentioned in Hadith, you know. Hadith *is* primary Islamic text.

Steve, Hadith are primary texts. Sharia is based on Quran and Sunnah. You want to 'defend' something? Defend these girls, not a religion.

Not arguing in defence of Islam, or for moral relativism on FGM - but I don't see how stigmatising 1.6 billion people helps to defend anyone

No one is stigmatizing ppl. They're talking about the religion. In fact, their aim is speak up FOR ppl--for little girls. As we all should.pic.twitter.com/9ypPlb99qC
