I honestly am surprised that shes surprised. How could Shias be unaware that Sunnis are taught this? Youd think the body count wld be a clue

Perhaps it would help if we refer to the deviant religious people who cherry-pick as a sect, rather than those who are true to the text.
Using the word 'sect' is not correct in either case. Shias or Sufis are a separate sect because they have different core beliefs.

It can happen. Catholic and Protestant both follow same book, for example.
