What should I do? I have a friend who will support a lot w the self-publishing route. Actually he'll do all the work, and take a cut.

I'd do one time payment, one doesn't generally get rich from a book, a cut may not be worth it. Also thorough contract.

A traditional publisher has all the cogs and gears to get a book seen, that's why they've survived.
