It saddens me that too often the victims in these circumstances are not even left alone afterwards, but repeatedly harassed, abused and mistreated and called all sorts of horrible things in attempt to rest the blame for all of the trauma solely at the doors of the victims.
Too many ExMuslims, if not all of us, can relate to this trauma.
We were traumatized, discarded, and left to heal ourselves.
You will never be rid of the scars, but you will heal. And when you do, you will reach out to help heal others.

And this is why some ex Muslims are aggressive and fight back, at least online. They kind of have to be. I sort of hope one day an apostate can file a lawsuit against their harrasers (often their family) and prominent Muslim organizations. That would be a precedent.

I had a nightmare of my family trying to kill me because they saw me without hijab. Now I can't stop thinking about it especially with all of the honor killings in my country.
