That’s the best way to think of religion, in my opinion.

Yeah, if only the rest of the 1.8 billion Muslims were agnostic theists like Reza.

But unfortunately, most of them take their faith seriously and believe they'll go to hell if they don't believe in all the things listed in my pinned thread.

It's also such a shame that you're an Ex-Muslim because I feel
@Ehmashoes last ditch effort at this point would be to call you an islamophobic racist.2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -

I just feel sad that they have apparently only experienced fundamental Islam, and not the pro-feminism; pro-LGBT; and progressive versions that I’ve seen all over the world.

All over the world. No. Just the water downed, cherry picked western version which goes completely against mainstream Islam.

I mean, I’ve done research in Iran, the US, Turkey, and France. So yeah, all over the world.

So let me just drill down on this. Whilst conducting your research, you came to the conclusion that Islam, as it stands today in those counties you mentioned are all about pro-feminism; pro-LGBT; and progressive? Is that what you're saying?

No, that’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying that Islam can be incredibly misogynistic and incredibly feminist at the same time. It depends on the interpretation of the individual, along with cultural beliefs. It isn’t a monolith, and should not be treated as one.

Emma, you’re conflating Islam and Muslims. Two very different things. The Islamic Republic of Iran, for ex, follows Sharia. However, Iranian ppl, the Muslims, practice their religion on a spectrum...some are religious, some are not. Regardless, the religion is still the religion.

An extremist form of Twelver Islam. Not all Sharia is the same. And there are many, many versions of the religion. To say one interpretation is correct over others is wrong.
