I don’t know if that demographic specifically does that...I’m just saying, in general, ppl in North America speak of Africa as if it’s a country- not a continent w many different countries.

C’mon we all do that with places we know little about

e.g. I’m a Kenyan who’s never seen a starving kid around, but a ‘Western’ comic will every once in a while generalize about good old ‘starving kids in Africa’ and 9/10 times, it kills! I couldn’t care less
They also often don’t seem to realize that Africa isn’t just “where black mem come from”, it is much more diverse than that.
