My neighbors trained their 2 year old daughter to wear a hijab (she's almost 3) & she's so accustomed to it that she started crying when I took it off of her head.. she's 2! Why is a baby wearing a hijab?!

But, but . . . I thought that women CHOOSE to wear the hijab, because it is their religious duty. Right?
They wear it because their religion tells them that they’ll hang by their hair in hell as their brains boil if they do not.

In any case there is no doubt that the religion and text from which it stems influences the cultures that lead to things like this. The argument is it is not the fault of the religion, but the fault of the people who practice it. Although I believe in identifying root causes

I've heard mixed views about whether the Quran orders that women wear Hijab (the whole thing about its not necessarily referring to cloth but a veil/barrier of any kind, and the context of the versus being about a specific occurrence for the prophets wives?
