I worked with a girl (in OK) who claimed to be devout, wearing a hijab and long sleeves under her work uniform in stifling conditions, despite the fact that she was hooking up left and right. Nobody should be scared of being disowned for what their family probably did as well.
So my mum said she would disown me if I remove hijab. This must've been the harshest thing I ever heard.

Wasn't word of mouth, but from her own lips. I mean, Catholics are strict, but I'd have been here sooner if the priest hadn't refused to marry my parents before my mom was 18.
