Yasmine Mohammed ياسمين محمد  🦋 Retweeted Conference on Religious Trauma

The most difficult thing for me was learning to trust my instincts, to trust myself. When you’re always told your intuition is wrong, and that the reality you see in front of you is not the truth, you stop believing yourself. You stop trusting your own mind and your own heart.https://twitter.com/ComeToCORT/status/1181597752637018112 …

I’m pretty sure it’s not ok for a 53 yr old man to rape a little girl. I don’t think that’s something we should revere. That sounds heinous to me. I’d be petrified... No, you’re wrong. It was all perfectly divine. And you’re the one who is heinous for even questioning it.

I don’t think nonbelievers are as terrible as Allah says they are. They are my friends, teachers and neighbors and I’m pretty sure they don’t hate me and view me as their enemy. Why should I view them as mine? You are being fooled by them. And you’ll burn with them for doubting.

I don’t agree that women are less intelligent than men or that a woman’s word is worth half a man’s in court or that a girl should get half the inheritance her brother gets or that a man should beat his disobedient wife-that sounds sexist You’re wrong. Our prophet was a feminist

I was born in a Catholic family. Yes, Sunday Mass, bible, nuns and fire and brimstone.(hell) IMO Religions are a real problem for this world. So now(age 65) I've finally abandoned the catholic nonsense and just act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with God.

I can relate to that. You certainly came out strong💪and assertive. Sad thing is, religious or not, we are all to some extent subjected to this kind of coersion to pretend that something is true what deep down we know to be false.

I find it helps to think of your instincts as an indirect message from God (if one exists why would he give you bad instincts?) and of religion as something some guy said a long time ago.

Dear @YasMohammedxx , All of us women who have lived in Muslim countries under Sharia law & Islam have common experiences of repression & gender discrimination & lack of personal freedoms. With the presence of enlightened & strong women like you 🌷❤️

Yup. That's inevitable with all forms of prolonged Gaslighting and coersive control; it leaves a legacy of second guessing yourself for some time after.
