    For me all religions that oppress women in any way are abhorrent. It is strange though that as a western white woman if I express this about a religion I chose to leave, ie Christianity then this is celebrated but if I express that opinion of Islam then I am prejudiced.

        I remember talking to a Buddhist master in Thailand who was sick of how his monastery treated the women in it. But he couldn’t change it. He said if he tried - the women nuns would tear him to pieces. The power of the misogynistic culture there too strong.
