There is another September 11th that is of more significance to Europeans: the Battle of Vienna in 1683 when the Muslim invasion of Europe was halted at the gates of Vienna. I don't think it is coincidence that the 9/11 attackers choose that date to attack the Twin Towers.
I know a lot of you reading this do not remember September 11th-and in a way, I envy you. I envy you not knowing what it feels like to have the world you knew become entirely unrecognizable. And for some of us, the categorical changes were internal too.

Absolutely! My son (who is 1/2 Arab) became the one bullied at school the next day! I watched from work as a few people took their anger out on my country. Then my country proceeded to abuse those people who happened to be from the same area .

We are not the same America as before. It breaks my heart that we can’t see people as people. No matter where they are from.

I agree and my kids can’t remember it either.... but by the same token they cannot remember life without the threat of horrific terror attacks (7/7 - Lee Rigby - London Bridge - Westminster - Manchester Arena here in the UK) and we can. X
