Sad that religion has millions of lives as hostages. I am a practicing Hindu for the last 10 years. I was 9 years old when I declared to my mom about my atheism. No one ever questioned me. I transitioned back to Hinduism after some astounding experiences of meditation in 2008

My parents, my relatives or society around me did not even notice that I was an atheist and no one ever challenged me or asked me to change or changed their behavior towards me. Life remained the way it was. Religion should be an open-door policy on its entrance and exit.

Its easy to give up thinking and just follow the rule book. It keeps life simple. Unfortunately if you do start thinking again the rule book says you cant leave and other members will make sure you don't.

Religious enthusiasm in the USA, with an official historical constitutional "separation of church and state" has far more religious enthusiasm than countries that have state churches (like the UK). State religions don't seem very good at winning "hearts and minds"
