It’s a recipe of naïveté, privilege, and ignorance. Whatever the subject-people always seem to think they’re going to be the one exception. When they find out that that isn’t the case as things happen-you have stories such as this. Real consequences-and it’s truly terrible.

Yeah, a lot of ignorance. No one wants to bring up the bad things that can happen to you if you live in a Muslim country. They just don't get it. Also, I think they finding hard to deal with the fact their husband, who was so charming, etc. can be such a monster.

In the 80s, my friend had a son with a muslim. When he was aged 2 his had said he was taking him on holiday to Pakistan to visit family for 2 weeks. He then refused to bring him back. She only got to meet him again when he was 17. Both mum & son are emotionally damaged for life.

I have known a number of women who married Arabic men they were not practising Muslims then one day they became born again Muslims and that was that. One lady never saw her daughters again and even though they were not Muslim but Western they were married off. 1.
