I think it might be the opposite Perhaps it’s those who are silent when it comes to women fighting against Islamic opression are actually the racists? Maybe they’re staying quiet because they actually hate Muslim women and want to see their opression continue...

I think his point is that some people are ONLY interested in these things when it's comes to Islam so they can bash it. They couldn't give a toss when it appears anywhere else.

Yeah I get a push back when I advocate for women's rights (and mens) across the board but I stand for them no matter who is abusing them.

I think that’s exactly what he’s saying - that we have to stand up for women’s rights and animal rights EVEN WHEN their violation originates from religion - not to shy away because of thinking that criticizing religion is not ok. I believe you are both saying the same thing.

This is so accurate. I see many people and feminists who claim they want equality, but only for their own race. Many western feminists don’t give a shit about other women because if they did they would fight for our equality as well

I'll admit my own bias here. My heart goes out to the Muslim women in the middle east and their plight for basic human rights. I don't see western women fighting for anywhere near the same things. I'm at somewhat of a loss these days to determine what they're fighting for.
