Yasmine, I’ve been both traditionally and self-published. If you’re interested in self publishing, I could point you in the right directions. As a writer, it breaks my heart to see anyone give up.

If you can't find an agent or publisher willing to take it on, and you still want to get it out there, self-publishing has never been easier / cheaper (if you use digital and print-on-demand, the only upfront costs are things like formatting and covers if you don't DIY those).

Self-publishing has plenty of drawbacks in terms of getting noticed (it's all about networking and marketing skills, which I've discovered I lack). But since you have a decent profile anyway, that side of things may not be a problem for you.
