When I was in university, 9/11 happened and it shook my faith in the same way ISIS is shaking the faith of so many Muslims today. I,unlike the courageous goddess in this video, didnt have the nerve to take it off and go back to class. I didnt want to deal w the stares/questions 1
So I still wore it by day and took it off at night when I went out w friends drinking and clubbing
but living a double life is exhausting and poisonous to the soul...Im glad girls today can be encouraged by each other & can find the courage to do what I was too scared to do 2
Every woman who comes out publicly is motivating and encouraging other girls who are just as scared as I was. The #FreeFromHijab movement saves girls from wasting years living a lie, a double life and wasting years of their youth. They’re an inspiration
