I’m saying the religion of Islam has a lot of problems that need to be addressed-not just theocracy/political Islam or ‘Islamism’ Some Muslims agree that theocracy, caliphates, Islamists etc are problematic...so they say those ppl are ‘not real Muslims’ and distance themselves 1https://twitter.com/WSA786/status/1155217564290748423 …

Why can't you go after Islamism *&* the problems within Islam? Anyway, much respect, Yas. A privilege to discuss, learn, and maybe disagree.

Because this concept of ‘Islamism’ IS a problem within Islam. It’s a distinction without a difference. It’s like calling the issues with homophobia in Islam Islmaogayism then claiming that there’s no problem w Islam, the problem is actually Islamogayism

Agree on your first sentence. On your main point, this seems to be a (major?) sticking point between ex & liberal Muslims (
@obaidomer, among others has cordially made your point to me). If "Islamism" is gotten rid of, 1Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

doesn't "militant", "radical", or "extremist" Islam have to be drafted in to try to express the same point? isn't the job of reforming Muslims generally made tougher, there being no Islam/Islamism distinction? why does no distinction help w/ addressing the religion's issues? 2
