It's the view of 'share a community' I disagree with. I'm lesbian, that doesn't make me part of some so-called community. I just happen to be lesbian and so are some other women. As long as I don't excuse behavior because I feel attached to someone who shares that trait.
Yes, I think the key difference is no one can tell you what community you’re a part of or what you should care about. But if you are a part of a community, you should (and probably naturally will) feel a responsibility to it. You’d want to speak up against injustices etc.
Can't argue with that. I agree in the general sense of speaking against injustice wherever it is, but do feel there is an extra responsibility to speak against someone within one's own, not that 'take responsibility' or 'are responsible' ,but responsible to stand up. That could-
-be football fandom and being willing to speak up if it's your team's player/coach who does something. Your priest/iman. JY situation is more complicated, imo. It's not simply people being willing to admit JY's bad issues, but it's that Human rights case is a natural ending of-
