White people cannot reasonably be expected to take responsibility for white supremacists. Muslims cannot reasonably be expected to take responsibility for Islamists. Trans people cannot reasonably be expected to take responsibility for Jessica Yaniv.

Im consistent in that I disagree w all the above. It is our responsibility to criticize and try to correct the wrongs in our communities...otherwise, what’s the alternative? We all turn a blind eye and say ‘not my problem’? In Canada today there’s very loud condemnation 1

I agree we should do that but I don't define communities by identity. My community isn't white people or women. It's liberals & secular humanists of all races and both sexes.

The counterargument would be that for ethnic minorities, they are lumped into a categorical "community" on the basis of their race/ethnicity regardless of whether or not they want to be. Racial/ethnic identity is something forced upon them by society, not something chosen.
