It's the view of 'share a community' I disagree with. I'm lesbian, that doesn't make me part of some so-called community. I just happen to be lesbian and so are some other women. As long as I don't excuse behavior because I feel attached to someone who shares that trait.

Yes, I think the key difference is no one can tell you what community you’re a part of or what you should care about. But if you are a part of a community, you should (and probably naturally will) feel a responsibility to it. You’d want to speak up against injustices etc.
