So my mother is a member of the @the_wing, like many other progressive women I know. It looks like @the_wing is hosting @CAIRNational at an upcoming event in DC. I just thought we should take a look at CAIR and ask @the_wing if this is in line with their values.pic.twitter.com/VRWCSQZe5F

First, CAIR was founded in 1994 by several leaders of the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP), an organization described by the U.S. government as part of “Hamas’ propaganda apparatus.”.

In 2015 Executive Director of CAIR-LA, Hussam Ayloush tried to connect ISIS's practice of burning humans alive to Israel saying, “Before ISIS started burning people, Israeli settlers burned this boy alive. His parents still grieve.”

In 2001 @jaketapper criticized the communication director of CAIR for saying about the September 11 attacks, "If Osama bin Laden was behind it, we condemn him by name," questioning why there should be any qualification before the statement. Jake even wrote an article about this.

Ali Asani, professor of Islamic studies at Harvard University said it was troubling and that there is "concern" how CAIR and other organizations are claiming to speak in the name of the Muslim community.

CAIR's founder, Nihad Awad, wrote in the Muslim World Monitor that the World Trade Center trial, which ended in the conviction in 1994 of four terrorists, was "a travesty of justice" and even claimed "Mossad and the Egyptian Intelligence played a role in the [WTC] explosion."

None of this is new information. So I'm curious, with other orgs out there such as @mpvusa, why is @the_wing choosing to partner with such a toxic group? Is this in line with @the_wing's values? My mother does not have twitter and she would like to know.

      Replying to @itzhakbendavid @mpvusa @the_wing

Great question. It’s not like there’s only one org for Muslims out there. They can choose to ally w an org that is progressive, inclusive, and liberal-or they can choose to ally w a group that is antisemitic, deemed a terrorist org, and that upholds religious conservative values.
