Sure, but what the most conservative muslim countries have in common is tribalism and cousin marriage. Whether arab or not. Cousin marriage in Pakistan is over 50%, in Iran around 40%. I’m confused. First you say Islam is not to blame, Arab tribalism is...then you cite Pakistan and Iran as examples. The reason why these issues persist is not because of Arab historical culture, but because Islam has been codefied into law-restricting progress of those cultures.

I think islam is partly to blame yes, in the sense that it makes it harder to discard tribalism. But Bosnia and some other countries seem to have largely succeeded. And they are muslim. So islam makes it harder, but not impossible.
