There is an interesting Arab / local dynamic in Indonesia. Everybody loves the tourists bearing money. But even in the majority-Muslim areas there are conflicts with laid-back local culture. Even more so in Hindu-majority Bali.
Indonesia is an interesting place...maybe because they’re all separated and don’t all live on one land mass, they seem to have developed very distinct cultures that are sometimes the antithesis of each other...like Hindu majority laid back Bali vs Sharia Aceh province
