Yes. This is an open secret. All Arabs know this...but few will admit it publicly. I have a Palestinian friend who fled from discrimination in Jordan to Israel where she found sanctuary. My family in Egypt told me not to say I was half-Palestinian or ppl would treat me badly.https://twitter.com/Claire_Voltaire/status/1151898584226205696 …

I dared to speak about the apartheid in Lebanon against Palestinians yesterday and since I’ve gotten nothing but grief from people telling me they don’t deserve equal rights. Some called them criminals.

Lebanese treat Palestinians like second-class citizens...they all do. Palestinians are treated like dogs by Arab states. They only like them when it’s time to use them as pawns to bludgeon Israel.

Absolutely. The takeaway here is that they do not care about the Palestine/Israel issue because they love Palestinians..but because they hate Israelis. And yes, the Jews/Zionists is a smokescreen. The caveat is that they don’t hate the Jews who also want the destruction of Israel

People sometimes don't even realise this prejudice in themselves. If you're raised to believe that Israel is the source of all problems in the region (or as Tim Marshall says, a lie told by Arab dictators to deflect from their own abuses) and everyone around you believes this...

...then it's hard to break out of. I follow exMuslims on here to whom this was a revelation. As for people single minded obsession, who only will hear one side of the story ...I think that stems from hate or serious ignorance or hate makes people unwilling to find out.

It actually never crosses their mind to question it. Jews are like the boogeyman. Does anyone stop to think why the Boogeyman is so hated? There’s a Russian saying: If there’s no water in the taps, it’s the Jews fault. It’s like that in the Muslim world too-completely irrational.
