#Tunisia has banned the #Niqab and all face veils for women in government offices for security reasons.https://english.alarabiya.net/en/News/north-africa/2019/07/05/Niqab-banned-in-Tunisian-government-offices-.html …

It’s funny that Muslim gov officials in Tunisia can understand why face veil bans are necessary, but many popular Ex-Muslims and Reformers in the west still have difficulty understanding it. It reenforces my belief that there are more progressive activists in MENA than the west.

Perhaps there’s a cultural / national aspect to this. Since the overwhelming majority of popular Ex-Muslims and Reformers in the west are of South Asian decent. Very few of MENA background have received wide reaching platforms.

No. I don’t believe so. If count the quantity of ex-Muslims online that I have discovered, MENA people far out number the South Asian. They are only less popular, and I think that has more to do with tribalism and anti-Arab bigotry in both the South Asian and Jewish community.

I don’t know of any Arab atheists who have a podcast (besides myself). I also don’t think Rogan or Harris have ever had an Arab atheist on theirs as a guest. But there are plenty out there.

I don’t think Habib ever did a podcast. I remember he did YouTube hangouts now and again. There was also Joe The Pharaoh, but didn’t have a podcast. Just YouTube. And Faisal and Yasmine don’t podcast anymore from what I’ve seen. I still can’t think of any Arab atheist podcasters

There are lots! Most of them are in Arabic though. In English, I can think of @Lincoln74Sal and @GodlessWomanOne...I'm sure there are more. I agree w your assessment tho, Lalo. Arabs are only 15% of Muslims-we are far outnumbered by South Asians-and exMuslim or not, they hate us

Thanks. I didn’t know about these people. Do you know if they can speak English despite podcasting in Arabic? We need to push for more Arab atheist podcasters.

Sal and Iman both podcast in English because they live in the West. Most Arab podcasts are in Arabic because they're trying to reach Arab ppl, but yes-they generally speak English too. It just makes more sense to do their shows in Arabic as theres lots of English material already

Are you from India? Indians are generally lovely ppl. Im referring to Pakistani/Bangladeshi ppl (not Bengali Hindus)...when they are Muslim they hate us because they always feel inferior (as Islam is an Arab supremacist religion). But the hate continues even if we're all atheists
