I think ppl are annoyed w the #PrideMonth marketing because it’s all so hollow.
Colorful cups are great, but raising a finger to address the fact that homosexuality is criminalized in 72 countries —and punishable by execution in 15 countries—is better.

Will it change the countries where it is illegal & punishable by death? Probably not. But it will bring awareness that it IS illegal & punishable by death elsewhere & there is the hope that pressure to change will mount. Meanwhile, here in the US we may lose our rights. That’s exactly my point. None of the marketing campaigns that I have seen are bringing any awareness to that fact.

What exactly would you propose people in countries where it is banned / punishable by death to be LGBTQIA+ do to fight for their rights? Honest question. The only activism I have seen for oppressive countries was during Israel's
#PRIDE when those facts were pointed out. -
Activism & change is rarely done from corporations. They don't want to lose money. The LGBTQ fight has always been grassroots. It's not until people begin to boycott & be loud that things will change. People will still go to UAE, Qatar, & other oppressive countries cos trendy.
