Thanks for highlighting this issue, bc it happens to so many in the desi community, but not limited to it. People struggle with this point until they realize they can’t make both happy on many topics. One has to live one’s life.

One should one’s life as long as it isn’t physically harming parents. I say physically, because emotionally they can get hurt, because we don’t meet their “traditional expectations”.

They obviously care about your well being, but there are certain topics which they will never get through their head as if taboo...such as not having kids, not getting married, lack of interest in group religious activities (I say one’s religious activities are one’s own biz)
