Thanks for highlighting this issue, bc it happens to so many in the desi community, but not limited to it. People struggle with this point until they realize they can’t make both happy on many topics. One has to live one’s life.

One should one’s life as long as it isn’t physically harming parents. I say physically, because emotionally they can get hurt, because we don’t meet their “traditional expectations”.

Yes, I've accepted that there's no way to make them happy when I what I want is not what they want for me. I have to keep pretending I'm still muslim but I think I'll manage, for now. -
