So Russia, Saudi Arabia and USA are responsible for the entire Afghanistan mess? Pakistan had supported the war and that brought in drugs, guns and Afghani refugees who still hate Pakistan, while still admire Saudis, neutral towards Russia and would love to settle in USA! Irony!

Reagan propagated to the Afghans that Soviet Russia forces were "godless" and exhorted the Afghans to fight for their religion. This served as a beacon for Islamic fighters to enter AFG and join the war. Once war was over, US moved on, Mujahideen fought among themselves
