Is it honestly just an attempt to transform something oppressive into something fashionable? Because you can put sparkles and whipped cream on spiritual imprisonment and call it reassuring/empowering, but it's still spiritual imprisonment.

Yes, ya Yasmine. Also, hijab's a feature of a political/social movement that locks women in a subjugated role. Treating it like an individual woman's fashion option is like seeing a Stormtrooper's uniform as just a preference for the "look" of brown shirts & swastika armbands.

That is not the case in some places but it is the case in others. Dove has done a lot to empower women. It has to be recognized that in America where @Dove is located, it is a choice; one they support. Obviously when one cannot have a choice in anything, it should be opposed.
