To be clear, I don’t condone milkshake attacks. It’s wrong. Is it violence? No, unless you’re the super-sensitive type. Is it funny? Yes. Is it a gateway to terrorism? Come on. Not condoning something doesn’t mean you can’t find it hilarious. It’s like those funny fails videos.https://twitter.com/Hallothere12/status/1131033537283538944 …

It absolutely is violence. I don't think you need to be 'sensitive' to feel this way. I suspect you'd change your mind if ex-Muslims became fair game for this sort of stuff. The humour factor would wear off fast.

Love you guys, but wrong analogy. Imagine if an LGBT activist threw a milkshake on a bearded mullah like Anjem Choudry while he’s making a homophobic speech. We’d all be sharing the video and laughing. It wouldn’t be nearly as controversial and you know it. That’s all I’m saying.

I think the fundamental difference is that you find it to be hilarious/not hilarious depending on the person getting pelted. We are consistent in saying that it’s wrong regardless of the politics of the person throwing it or of the person it is being thrown on.

I said repeatedly it’s wrong. But I don’t think a bit of milkshake on your suit is physical assault. We all know that. It’s humiliating, though, and that’s what they’re upset about. This explains it better:pic.twitter.com/PgDoMun3h8

The guy who threw the milkshake at Farage was charged with common assault. So the law disagrees with you that it wasn't assault. Would you allow Zoe to throw a need ball at another child in anger or would you tell her it was wrong?

Perhaps he’d find it wrong, but hilarious

If the other kid was the equivalent of a powerful wealthy politician with identitarian and authoritarian tendencies? I’d tell her it was wrong to do, and then, yes, probably laugh at the video when she’s not looking. So would you and y’all know it.
