Love you guys, but wrong analogy. Imagine if an LGBT activist threw a milkshake on a bearded mullah like Anjem Choudry while he’s making a homophobic speech. We’d all be sharing the video and laughing. It wouldn’t be nearly as controversial and you know it. That’s all I’m saying.
I think the fundamental difference is that you find it to be hilarious/not hilarious depending on the person getting pelted. We are consistent in saying that it’s wrong regardless of the politics of the person throwing it or of the person it is being thrown on.

The guy who threw the milkshake at Farage was charged with common assault. So the law disagrees with you that it wasn't assault. Would you allow Zoe to throw a need ball at another child in anger or would you tell her it was wrong?

I think pretty much any human finds it less wrong when it's done to someone we find evil. It's just that standard for evil is subjective. Had someone egged a Hitler equivalent we would all probably cheer it as a good thing.

With acid attacks so prominent in the UK, no one should throw anything on anyone. Who knows if a milk shake isn't laced with something more dangerous like the Skripal case? My body my choice. No one has a right to do anything ANYTIME to someone else's body.
