Hey #ExMuslim ladies.
Can you share your stories with @YasMohammedxx
About your relationship with your mum since dissent.
A mother daughter bond is meant to be so unique, but so often has been tarnished by religious values.

My relationship with my mom has worsened since i was enlightened about the horrible mindset behind quran and islam. She has shown her true color of being a true Muslim. We hate each other.

I'm sorry you have to go through that, I went through a bit of emotional blackmail myself with my mum, but I stood my ground. How was it for you?

I also remained firm and tried to convince that I'm still a human being who deserves freedom of thinking but no her stupidity has no match

I can relate to this. My mom always made me feel like I was an extension of her-I was obligated to live the life she wanted me to live. One day I yelled “I never asked you to get fucked by my father and have me!” That was the only time I ever saw her speechless

My mom would have hit me over the head with literally anything she could grab. She's not Muslim, but she's Middle Eastern, so the bashing is inherent.

Yes, an Egyptian mom specialty is her shibshib or slipper, but ya...anything will do. I once got a mug to the head and she wouldn’t call 911 even though I was bleeding so much because she didn’t want to get in trouble.

Shoes, wooden spoons..she hurled hedgeclippers at me when I was 19, but she missed so. Sorry yours had better aim. = (

Jesus. As a mom now, I honestly don’t know how they did it. I can’t imagine ever purposefully hurting my child.

My mom was done wrongly by my American father. 23, pregnant..fiance had run away. This wasn't okay in Iran even under the Shah. Mom literally fled and had me here, alone with no help. I figure, Yasmine..life isn't for sissies and Mom didn't want to raise a sissy.

She certainly did not.
