My mum always said "yes you know more than me" whenever I said something smart. Because I do know more than her. Or something like "I had you in my tummy for 9 months and fed you and changes your diapers and now you've just stopped believing" she felt betrayed.

Yes, but that the thing. We’re *not* extensions of them. We are full independent human beings w our own minds in our own bodies. That’s a fact that eludes them.

My mom would have hit me over the head with literally anything she could grab. She's not Muslim, but she's Middle Eastern, so the bashing is inherent.

Yes, an Egyptian mom specialty is her shibshib or slipper, but ya...anything will do. I once got a mug to the head and she wouldn’t call 911 even though I was bleeding so much because she didn’t want to get in trouble.
