Help me out with this one. I’m told Islam has no centralized authority and so one can’t make any sweeping generalizations about the theology. If that’s the case then can’t any mosque be anything it wants?
I mean, it is unicorn Islam as @GadSaad calls it, but I very much support the mythical creatures over the real deal. They’re usually nice and inclusive and don’t want to kill us.

I don't think that really answers the question though. I've lived in a muslim neighbourhood most of my life. Most people are highly secular and some dress like it's 7th century but with cell phones. There's a concrete complex set of answers to this but "Unicorn theory" ain't it.
