Food fight breaks out after the day-long fast during Ramzan. Men in frocks lob fisticuffs at each other as mullahs clean out the plates. Watch and weep.pic.twitter.com/6otnCaOBUa

If you are orthodox, then you do abstain from a lot of things during Lent. Few people do this now, but historically, people did more of it. Obviously not liquids, but solid food was avoided. That is why strong beer was developed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lent

In my Church, the Orthodox one, the Lent goes through phases. First week you abstain from meat, second week you abstain from dairy products also. And we do have more than one Lent during the year, which serves also somewhat to purify your body from some toxines.

On a side note, Ramadan only requires you to abstain during daylight hours. You can eat and drink at night. I am still not sure what this has to do with males. After 20+ years living with my wife and daughters, I know the meaning of the word Hangry, which affects both genders

This was exactly what I was going to say. Lent people restrict certain things but is a personal thing and not even nec. food. No one says if you don’t you’re not right.
