I had to think about it, & I’m pro mandatory vaccinations. @MaajidNawaz, how is it totalitarian? Ignorant parents shouldn’t be allowed to deny their child immunity from diseases, thereby putting others at risk.https://twitter.com/ThePledge/status/1126507790518718470 …

I agree. Herd immunity is necessary to prevent outbreaks. I’d be in favour of denying child benefits, state funded education etc from those who refuse vaccination for their kids.

This doesn’t address the fact that the unvaccinated can infect others in other public places. It also then leads to consequences for the child who didn’t get a say in being denied basic healthcare

The feeling is always mutual
FYI - I would not find endorsing this Canadian measure particularly problematic. I’m *only* talking about *injecting* babies without parental consent, not *any* other form of civic punishment. Punishment is needed. -
I honestly wonder if this intuition does boil down to the word and act of injecting. If the vaccine was somehow delivered through an air freshener in the delivery room would anyone have a sound moral objection to a law making it mandatory for those to be in all delivery rooms?

Surely failure to vaccinate falls under neglect? Same as failing to feed or properly care for a child. Social services (the state) already intervenes when it assesses a risk to children - removing them from their parents if necessary.

The mistake you're making is the assumption that the government will only ever have the best of intentions when injecting you with "vaccinations." https://www.cdc.gov/tuskegee/timeline.htm …
