Here’s the hard truth: liberals largely feel they’ve already dealt with equality of women and LGBT. It’s old news. They’ve moved on to the minutiae now...to the microagressions that bother THEM. The fact that that equality has not yet permeated outside the West is irrelevant.

For the others, they cant even be bothered to raise their voice in solidarity. A tweet or show of support is rare.

I have to deal with a bunch of moral relativism types at my college. They were fire breath LGBT types, but should shudder at the mere implication that people in that region are antithetical to LGBT. Insisting that is islamiphobic and they are actually more tolerant then us here

As far as I know, they are only fined € for wearing face coverings (religious or otherwise) that obscure their ID. They are not imprisoned for wearing the niqab per se. They can be jailed for repeatedly refusing to remove it in order to prove their ID to police.
