Here’s the hard truth: liberals largely feel they’ve already dealt with equality of women and LGBT. It’s old news. They’ve moved on to the minutiae now...to the microagressions that bother THEM. The fact that that equality has not yet permeated outside the West is irrelevant.
The fact that FIFTEEN countries will execute you for being gay is barely a blip on their screen The fact that women are imprisoned and killed for not wearing hijab is not concerning That’s gay ppl and women that are far away-they don’t matter
#NotAll of course, but it’s incredibly concerning that those who purport to care about women and LGBT only care about them if they share the same land mass as them.
For the others, they cant even be bothered to raise their voice in solidarity. A tweet or show of support is rare.
You may have a point Yasmine. The west tends to criticise itself, yet fetishes other cultures as somehow innocent and pure. Humanity has a lot of faults. And these faults are not exclusive to the west

I think the problem is the left has taken intersectionality to extremes and they dont know how to rank ‘oppressed’ groups
More of the issues outside of the west on equality are based on idiotic religious beliefs and sadly that will take a long time if ever to change
