Exactly. This is dumb on so many levels. Purveyors of the magazine, feminists who are against modesty culture, and Muslim ppl that support modesty culture...none of them are happy to see this.
She's an adorable lady...her interview makes her so innocent and special. It's as if she is oblivious to the intentions of her attire by exploiting it in this way. She's a natural beauty, but seems almost naive.
I never researched her personally, so I know nothing of her..but it’s not about her. It’s about the dimwits that were like Hmmm...which religious modesty clothing should we celebrate on our soft porn issue? The bonnet? Long denim skirts? Mormon underwear? Oh! I know! Burkinis!
I'm pretty sure I saw a few positive comments - mostly directed at the model for taking the chance and breaking new ground. I thought multi-cultural America would have responded with a big shrug. I've seen these outfits at the beach - and that's how they look. Enjoy your day!
It's religious garb being worn for a publication with partially clothed or almost naked women. Normalizing sharia law to soften the image is misleading. Sports Illustrated is glamorizing and dressing-up garments women throughout the world can be whipped or stoned for not wearing.
