Legitimate question. If this is happening in Canada what can we do to help these girls? This is breaking my heart to read through this thread.
My mom was able to get me exempt from the PE requirement for high school graduation by citing ‘religious freedom’. I wish they hadn’t let her. At least I could have gotten SOME exercise. Many of us are raised like veal-physical activity is entirely restricted.
How do we combat this type of stuff? It seems rights in western society are starting to diminish to appease this cultural belief. Beaches in Europe are starting to ban women in bikinis as not to offend muslims.
Why are we doing that? We are choosing to capitulate. It’s on us. A bully can make all the demands they want, it’s what you expect from a bully, but it’s up to us to say no.
Ludicrous nonsense and another example of stupid well-meaning liberals being too thick to understand that “religious freedom” does NOT trump all other rights, such as the right of teenage girls to good health accessed through exercise. Sports should be compulsory for all kids.
