I've never understood this claim that some people 'hide behind religion' to excuse their bigotry. I'm always convinced it IS their religion that causes them to think that way. It's not as if they were bigoted THEN joined a religion but rather their religion teaches them bigotry.
I agree. I mean hide behind it in an effort to shield themselves from criticism....As in, you can’t criticize my bigotry because it’s divinely ordained. I don’t care. Bigotry is bigotry regardless of the source.

Well...the problem with religious bigotry is that it's mind controlled bigotry on an industrial scale! It's crowd-funded, unnaturally intense bigotry on steroids affecting masses of people, whole communities. It's promoted.

I don't think we should say it that way cos it's not right. The fact is it's the religion that infected their mind with bigotry and so that is what we should say. If we present them with a wrong argument, it catch on, let alone stick.
