Its not traditional attire in most of the countries where it’s worn because it has nothing to do traditions or cultures. It’s religious. It’s the clothing of religious fundamentalists.

Trust me Ma’am it wasn’t so. I am from India and women in our country never used to wear Burkhas up until Saudi Money started flowing into India through donation to Mosques. Maulvis then started preaching Arab culture through Friday prayers.
Same is true in India. 30 years ago there were hardly any muslim women who wore burqa now it's becoming a norm.
