If religious ppl say things like: I wont go to a wedding for a gay couple or an inter-religious couple-even if it’s in my family-do those ppl have a leg to stand on when ppl reciprocate by being intolerant to their religions? Why is it only ok for the religious to be intolerant?

Yasmine, tolerance doesn't mean having to accept, like or participate in a person's beliefs; it means leaving ppl alone, not targeting them for those beliefs. I think Ben is being consistent here.

I don’t think he would. Religious conservatives think we choose to be LGBTQ and that we could choose to be straight if we weren’t such sinners. So it’s our choice to do things that alienate us from our families.
They don’t see that they’re the ones choosing ostracism. -
Been following you for a very while and this is the first time I've ever been disappointed by lack of due diligence. Ben has specifically said he believes the vast majority of homosexuals are born homosexuals. His contention, and the contention of most religious people I know 1/2

I went to a wedding where this exact thing happened and didn't turn up to his daughter's wedding (she converted Jewish) Not problematic at all. I completely understand his non attendance. As would all religious people.

The dad didn't turn up. We speculated that its because he was Muslim and she converted Jewish.

I would consider it "intolerance" if he supports the idea that no one can have a gay wedding. Not willing to participate in it, in this case, is simply a difference in beliefs.

Yasmine, saying Ben's comment is problematic = saying Ben's *opinion* is problematic. He's simply abstaining from an activity that signals the opposite of his religious beliefs - like the baker who wouldn't bake cake for gay wedding. Supreme Court sided with baker, btw.
